我們也將在新的一年裡對您的工作予以大力的 支持﹗ 華盛頓中國和平統一促進會 美京中國統一促進會 喬治華盛頓大學中國和平統一促進會 2007年12月16日 *************************************** Senator XXXX XXX Senate Building Washington, D.C. 20510 December 16, 2007 The Honorable Senator xxxxx: We, on behalf of the American-Chinese community in Greater Washington area, are writing today to wish you and your family a happy holiday season and thank you for your hard work in the U.S. Congress in past year. I would like to take this opportunity to express my grave concerns over the UN membership referendum promoted by Taiwan’s Chen Shui-bian and the threat it poses to the stability and peace across the Taiwan Strait and the Asian-Pacific region. This referendum is strongly opposed by the U.S. government, mainland China, and the international community because it attempts for Taiwan to join the United Nations in the name of Taiwan. It is a flagrant attempt to change’s Taiwan’s official name, it is a provocative attempt to unilaterally alter the status quo across the Taiwan Strait and a serious step towards to Taiwan independence. This is a dangerous attempt, which may certainly lead to more tension and even armed conflicts. We now seek your support in opposing this referendum and we will support you, and wish you a great success in the coming year, and a very good luck in your upcoming election. Sincerely yours, National Association for China’s Peaceful Unification Washington, D.C.
